Aftercare Instructions

● A bandage has been applied to your fresh tattoo. Please remove it after 2 to 4 hours.
● Wash your tattoo with soap and warm water. Use a clean washcloth and towel to carefully dry the skin. Allow for your skin to
air dry. It is very important to use a fresh washcloth and towel to avoid introducing bacteria to your tattoo.
● When your skin feels dry, apply a fresh bandage over the tattoo. You may keep the new bandage on overnight. If the
bandage becomes “damp” ( this is considered normal) or if the bandage feels uncomfortable, remove the bandage. IF you
are sensitive to adhesives( tape or plastic) , please remove the bandage if any redness or discomfort occurs.
● After removing the bandage, wash with warm water and soap. Allow to air dry. You have been sent home with a sample
ointment. You will need to purchase additional ointment such as Aquaphor, Vaseline or A&D to continue your aftercare. Apply
this ointment to your tattoo for the next 10-14 days.
● Keep in mind, the ointment should be applied as a thin coating. Most likely, this coating will last 1-2 hours and will need to be
reapplied. The ointment is very important. It keeps the skin protected during the healing process. Scabbing and peeling skin
is a normal part of the healing process. Do not pick or peel scabs off of the skin. Allow the skin to shed them. It is also normal
for the tattooed area to itch, refrain from intense itching of the area. Scarring and color loss can occur if these directions are
ignored. Do not use sanitizer on the tattoo, this will result in unfavorable results.
● Showering is encouraged. Please do not swim or soak in a tub for the next 10-14 days. Poor healing and color loss are likely
to occur if you choose to ignore this or any of the instructions. If your tattoo needs to be repaired( which is different than a
touch-up and is determined at the sole discretion of Thank God Tattoo, LLC), the cost to do so will be in addition to the cost
of your tattoo.
● One touch-up appointment is included in the cost of your tattoo and needs to be done within 6 weeks of your finished tattoo.
● Keep your new tattoo out of direct sunlight for the next 10-14 days. Apply sunscreen after that to keep your tattoo protected.
Fading of tattoos occurs when exposed to direct sunlight.
● Improper aftercare will affect the healing of your tattoo negatively. Examples include: color loss and scarring.
● If you have any questions about the healing process, please contact Thank God Tattoo, LLC for further instructions.
● If you have medical concerns such as: pain, throbbing, discharge, unusually redness or swelling, or any other symptom that
concerns you, seek out licensed medical professionals for assistance.
